Van Halen Rock Hall Appearance in Question

With the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony less than one week away, one outstanding question remains: Will Van Halen attend the festivities?

According to our sources at the Rock Hall, members Sammy Hagar, David Lee Roth and Mike Anthony will all make appearances. However, brothers Eddie and Alex, who gave the band their namesake, have yet to confirm. The news comes shortly after Velvet Revolver announced they would be standing in for Van Halen -- who recently scrapped their summer reunion tour -- during the ceremony, with frontman Scott Weiland and guitarist Slash speaking on the inductees' behalf.

Joining Velvet Revolver in tribute to the remaining honorees are Jay-Z who will induct Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder who will induct R.E.M., Rage Against the Machine's Zach de la Rocha who will induct Patti Smith and Rolling Stones' Keith Richards who will induct the Ronettes. In addition, Aretha Franklin is slated to perform in a tribute to late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.

Watch the entire ceremony live from New York's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on March 12 at 8PM ET, here, and check out our exclusive Q&As with the inductees, photos and more.

Rock music has been hijacked by the idiots who somehow got empoered to proclaim who they think should be in there. This isn't someone just complaining about their band not making it in. It's about who was voted in. Hell, I kinda liked REM for awhile, before they became silly but, geez, Hall of Fame they definetly aren't. They were a cute little college band that went a little pop.

Patti Smith, pleeease. Yeah, she turned heads for about 5 min. with one or two songs in the 70's. Stop holding onto her like she did anything more than swear and pose.

Finally, to snub an entire genre of rock music like progressive rock is ignorant. To say bands like Yes, Deep Purple and Rush don't deserve to be in there is just plain criminal; and stupid.

What would be so important that Sammy would not be able to do the Van Halen thing. Loser Dave never will because of that gigantic ego of his.

I agree,I havent kept up with the "Rock-n-Roll" HOF,but Im stilltrying to figure out how Grandmaster Flash fits into "ROCK N ROLL",you induct a rapper and no Stevie Ray Vaughn??? I dont get it.I like Van Halen, but you know I like alot others are really tired of thier drama,Van Halen is its own soap opera,Roth,Hagar,Sharone,He said, she said.I remember seeing David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar the same night in concert together,Roth opened for Hagar,so Eddie really needs to get over it!
Anyways,If it AINT ROCK_N_ROLL it dont belong in the RnR HOF......NUFF SAID!

I can't stand VH. I will agree that they are rock icons and should be inducted into the HOF. But what about Boston, Kansas, Foreigner all deserving. I'm surprised they inducted the Eagles. Judging from some other their other choices.
We've just lost Brad Delp of Boston. Let's get these others in the HOF before it's too late.
And the Sex Pistols? WTF were they thinking?

RIP Brad.

I agree with just about all of you on who's been left out. My only concern is a recent inductee... Since when did RAP earn a spot in the HOF?????

NO QUESTION ABOUT IT! Van Halen should be in the Hall of Fame. Regardless of their singer situations, Eddie & the band individualy changed rock'n'roll for the better. Alot more than I can say for some of the other HOF inductions, past or present!

RUN DMC needs to be inducted next year. They along with Aerosmith singlehandedly changed our culture.

van halen should be in, it's to bad they've got their heads up there ass. everybody who knows rock knows daimond dave was the best frontman in music. he owened the stage and the arena's that they played in.it sucks their not going on tour. grand master flash is a differant case. he started the rap game and should receive a music lifetime acheivement award, not the ROCK hall of fame
